Barrel Project 18.11 – Imperial Porter

“In qualsiasi momento, piccoli lotti della nostra American Barleywine e Export Porter 1750 e talvolta altre birre invecchiano per diversi mesi nel nostro birrificio in botti di whisky, porto, cognac o vino. Queste birre sono vendute sotto la voce Barrel Projects.”
Ecco spiegata la genesi del nome della Barrel Project 18.11, una imperial porter da 9 gradi alcolici del birrificio olandese Kees.
Nello specifico la 18.11 (18 per l’anno – 11 per l’edizione) è stata fatta maturare in botti di whisky Benrinners.
Nel bicchiere si presenta con un colore mogano sormontato da schiuma color cappuccino.
Al naso aromi di caffè, caramello, frutta secca. Al palato il dolce dei malti è predominante accompagnato da sentori di liquirizia e caffè.
Il passaggio in botte dona la leggera affumicatura e lo spunto alcolico.
Il sottofondo amaro in retrogusto bilancia la bevuta.
Vista “l’anzianità” della 18.11 non è facile da trovare, ma se ci riuscite, non fatevela scappare.

“Any time, small batches of our American Barleywine and Export Porter 1750 and sometimes other beers age for several months in our brewery in whiskey, port, cognac or wine barrels. These beers are sold under the heading Barrel Projects. ”

Specifically, 18.11 (18 for the year – 11 for the edition) was aged in Benrinners whiskey barrels.
In the glass it shows a mahogany color topped by cappuccino-colored foam. On the nose aromas of coffee, caramel, dried fruit.
On the palate the sweet of the malts is predominant accompanied by hints of licorice and coffee.
The passage in cask gives the light smoking and alcoholic hint.
The bitter background in the aftertaste balances the drink. Given the “seniority” of 18.11 it is not easy to find, but if you can do it, don’t miss it.
